The Board of Finance Corporation Limited (FinCorp) part of the Grand Columbia Limited group of companies today announced a K40’000 donations in response to the Highlands Earthquake of 26th February, through the CPP/ CAN-DO church partnership, led by Caritas Australia and the Uniting Church of Papua New Guinea., seeking to address the immediate needs of the most affected communities in Hela and Southern Highlands provinces.
Following a comprehensive needs assessment, undertaken by Caritas Australia, United Church and ADRA, it was decided that UCPNG, will be using this money to procure and distribute starter kits this are basic tools that we can purchase and package per household. The starter kits will include a spade head, a bush knife, an axe, a hammer and a file. The idea is to help families who may have lost their homes. The starter kit is to help them start thinking about rebuilding their grass huts etc.
UCPNG will at least do some field nots verification on some of the primary data that they have collected. Once UCPNG have verified we will be the starter kits, repack them and allow the Airlines PNG to deliver them to Mendi and Tari.
FinCorp acknowledge the great work done by many organizations in the hard hit areas it and acknowledges the role the churches play in the restructure of those communities.
