HIV/Aids Workplace Policy

FinCorp’s HIV/Aids Workplace policy was approved by the Board in July 2008 and has been incorporated in the Personnel Manual.  The Policy is also endorsed by the PNG Business Coalition against HIV/Aids (BAHA) of which FinCorp is a member.

As outlined in the policy, “The purpose of this policy is to prevent new infections and ensure that FinCorp mitigates the impact of HIV and AIDS in the workplace and provide support to employees and their immediate families[1] through appropriate information, counselling and medical services that sustains equitable approach with consistency.”

An important part of the policy is the implementation phase which includes the installation of condom vending machines on site and in-house training and awareness on the prevention of HIV/Aids, and care and counselling.

Jane Wickham, Human Resource Manager attended a BAHA Workshop in February 2008 and received certification as a HIV/Aids Workplace Trainer.  She will initiate the implementation requirements and manage the process going forward.
